Arusha is the exquisite home of Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national parks such as the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park. Arusha also has its own national park, Arusha National Park, situated on the scenic Mount Meru. Not only does it have its wondrous national parks, but you will also find the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free standing mountain in the world, the majestic – Mount Kilimanjaro.
Arusha is a city in northern Tanzania with an estimated population of approximately 550.000. The city has been growing rapidly over the years and is today Tanzania’s second largest city after Dar es Salaam.
Arusha is further a major international diplomatic hub. The city hosts the head quarters of the East African Community (EAC) and is regarded as the capital of the EAC. It is a multicultural city with the majority of it’s population being African but with large Arab and Indian minorities together with international ex-pats, engaged in diplomatic affairs and the fast-growing tourist industry.
Despite its proximity to the equator, Arusha’s elevation of 1,400 meters above sea level on the southern slopes of Mount Meru, keeping temperatures relatively low and alleviates humidity. Cool dry air is prevalent for the most part of theyear. The temperature ranges between 13 and 30 degrees Celsius with an average around 25 degrees.
